THE SM-13
This haphazardly constructed submarine is Simon's personal tomb. The SM-13 is where he will spend his final days, watching not only his surroundings mutate, but his own flesh as well. They're meant to become one.

EXPLORATION
The SM-13 was an interesting design process. Mark wanted it to look utterly uninviting, barely holding itself together, and constructed with the last remnants of humanity. It was also intentionally designed to mimic the eel, with long, terrible teeth and aileron gills. You were never meant to have hope in it.

FINAL DESIGN
After some exploration, Mark decided on my second ever sketch of the SM-13. I moved forward with a 3D construction of it, which proved challenging with its haphazard pieces.

INFERIOR MODEL
At some point, I was tasked with reconstructing the back of the submarine set in 3D to recreate shots. I used various photos of the set, taken when it was still in use. I textured the asset to reflect two different acts of the movie. Act one is when the SM-13 is entirely normal while act three is when the SM-13 is in its most mutated state. Camera pictures were then placed in the 3D scene.
